Air Bath for Standard Resistors

Open · Buyer: National Research Council of Canada (NRC) · Closes: 2026-09-28 · Published: 2026-09-11

An air bath for standard resistors is a temperature-controlled enclosure that maintains precision resistance standards at a stable and uniform temperature. Since the resistance value of standard resistors is temperature dependent, tight temperature control is essential for accurate resistance measurements used in thermometry applications such as standard platinum resistance thermometer calibrations. The laboratory is acquiring an air bath to replace the current oil bath system. Compared to oil baths, air baths provide cleaner operation, lower maintenance, no risk of oil contamination or leakage, and easier handling of resistors and wiring, while maintaining excellent temperature stability for precision measurements.
